WHO WE ARE

ASSOCIATION GARUKA is a Rwandan registered Non-Governmental organization, that has been working in kigarama sector, kicukiro district, Kigali city since 2000. "GARUKA" is a kinyarwanda word that means "Come back" We operate a range of programs aimed at preventing, supporting and rehabilitating street and other vulnerable children and youth in Rwanda.

To build a generation of empowered children & youth and put an end to vulnerability of children in Rwanda.

Offering Technical and Work Readiness Training to Help People Secure Employment. Creating a space for youth to hone their mentorship and advocacy skills that allow them to grow and thrive.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH SAFE NETWORK

This program involves key members of society in actively protecting children and youth from all forms of abuse, by training them to recognize and respond to dangerous situations.

PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT

A Program designed to give people the tools to be able to support themselves economically. Primarily, this part of our work is aimed at vulnerable and families, those who have the capacity to work and to forge livelihoods themselves.

ABOUT GARUKA TVET SCHOOL

Garuka TVET School is Association Garuka's vocational training school based in Kigali accredited by WDA (Level 1, 2, 3,4). The school started in 2005 with four trades to mention: - Carpentry, Welding, Tailoring,Culinary arts. We operate a range of programs aim at empowering children and youth to use their full potential and tap into existing opportunities for employment, productivity. , and social economic transformation. We motivate youth to be creative and self-employed.

You will be equipped with the needed employability skills in Tailoring, such as hand-sewing, choosing materials, operating a sewing machine, how to make clothes that fit, different tailoring techniques and so on. Every student is allocated their own sewing machine to learn on.

TAILORING PROGRAM

This is a 9 months training that provides the skills, knowledge and attitudes for a learner to be competent in a limited range of skills required to carry out various tasks in hospitality enterprises. Most of our graduates succeed in finding gainful employment in the hotels and in food service and catering industry.
